I currently have 2 x 75Hz 1440p monitors connected to a 6700XT. I have seen a deal for a 165Hz 1440p monitor and am considering upgrading both, but am wondering if there is a big enough difference to justify this (outlay would be £360 and I should be able to get £100 for each of my current ones).

I can afford it but just not sure if its actually worth it.

Any thoughts from people who have done the same previously.

Both screens are IPS by the way.

Thanks

I'd just buy one, game on that and use the other as a second screen for YT etc (I'm assuming this is what you're currnetly doing?)

There's definite improvements for gaming with higher refresh rates, particualry at 144HZ, diminishing returns above that, but I think 165 is pretty cheap now anyway. I'd say a 6700XT is ideal for 1440p 144HZ IPS gaming.

I use my PC for work more than play, so I think I would get annoyed if I only swapped one as I'm sure I would notice the difference over an 8 hour work day.

My biggest holdup really is selling on the existing monitors as I've heard horror stories about couriers and monitors for normal people even though shops use the same couriers.

Ok, I'd ask yourself whether you're really that unhappy with what you have currently. I'd be sceptical that the expense and the hassle you've outlined would be worth it.

I've been doing that since I saw the deal yesterday, I didn't bite immediately, which to be honest is very unlike me, I either plan something very well, or just buy it as soon as I see it.

Unless I get drunk tomorrow night and do late night shopping, I think I am likely to leave it, as yeah Im not really unhappy with my current monitors and haven't been saying to myself whilst gaming, oh this looks bad.

Cheers

I think you made the right decision, for the future though 27" 1440p and 144HZ plus, is really good sweet spot for gaming with a 6700XT. You can pick a good one of these up pretty cheap these days.
