Can't bring myself to pay the inflated 280x price. Beginning to think about a 760 for £200.

I'm upgrading from a gtx 460 so am certain to be happy with either team red or green.
I play at 1080 res and plan to get an Oculus Rift, but as that's 1080 too I don't think that requires special consideration.

Thoughts?

Im in the same boat, want to upgrade from a 460 to a 280x but the lack of stock and inflated prices are making that hard.

It all depends how flexible is your budget.

GTX760 doesn't worth the £200. Grab a 270X for less or you could be better off to buy the OCUK GTX770 for £230.

After that, the next reasonable price is at £270 the Powercolor 280X, (in stock) and that because of the Mantle, extra VRAM etc.

Or else the Gainward GTX770 @ £250 if you want to stick on budget and with Nvidia.

Meh, I find the 760 a great card for the price tbh - nice fps and good gameplay, I'd go for it if I were you

I check the daily deals, er daily, but the prices for the 280x have risen and risen. Even with a special offer I feel that they're expensive given where the prices started.

The other thought I had was to get a 270x for £155ish and then maybe another next year if it starts to struggle. I need to check how a 270x in crossfire compares to a 280x and whether you need a special motherboard.

I think a 270x for £150ish makes sense, but the higher you go though the more I think a 760 becomes worth considering as it does seem faster than a 270x in most cases.
