Yes these cards are amazingly fast!!

The 7600 GT is quicker than 6800 GT's were and is believed to be even quicker than 6800 Ultras plus very overclockable. They are absolute bargains.

The 7600 GS is also a very quick card too and is completely silent due to fanless designs again expect these to perform around 6600GT/6800 performance levels which makes these bargains too.

As to whether they will play games at 1280x1024 well yes they will but don't expect maximum image quality as to get that you'd ideally need a 7800 GT or X1800 upwards. :)

so it would be worth spending the little extra to get a 7800gt which would run the games with all eyecandy on

Yeah

go for this XFX 7800 GT Extreme now £149 (£176 Inc. VAT)

Sure Gibbo will tell you not many left, be quick :)

Yup as OcUK flogging the XFX one cheap, but only whilst stock last. :)

I just want to vouch for the ability of the 7600GT. I play BF2, Q4, CoV, CoD2, Serious Sam 2 (which was free with the leadtek) and lots of other games, all of which on max setting at 1280x1024... however I don't use anything above 4xAA, and they never slow down. The 7800GT is faster though, so get it whilst this offer is on, if you can't get it in time, the 7600GT is great.

Don't think so, and no, I have no need to - it's never been too slow in a game and I am using a SFF case with only a 300w PSU, so don't want to needlessly push components.

Its a pity you only have a 300w PSU, as you for an extra £20 you could have had the x1800 XT 256mb, which is faster than both the 7800 GT, and the 7800 GTX.

£20 more? My 7600GT was £140 with 2 games :D

I was talking about the 7800 GT thats £176, the x1800 XT is only £20 more. :)
Yeah, if I had a bit more juice in my SFF I would have gone for one of those (actually had one breifly, but gave it to a friend from the price I paid).

Since being asked if I'd overclocked it... I couldn't help but OC it. Using the rather average Winfox program, it would do 600/1600 with no issues (no way to do it bit by bit, so unsure of max overclocks).

Anyway, 05 score @ stock = 6200, @ 600/1600 = 6700.

With my CPU running at 2.4Ghz, my ram OC'd some and another 10mhz on the core speed I got 7150ish. Remember this using a MATX motherboard... not bad for a £140 gfx card imo.
