7600GS..Underperforming I think.. Check these settings please?

Bught one of these 7600gs cards a while back, and have now realised they are either very crap, or my system is making it underperform. It seems worse than my last card, which I think was a ti4600. Getting lag while playing pro evo 2008 on med detail, also a bit of lag in some places in live for speed with high detail, runs at about 97fps normally but drops to around 30fps.

Currently have core clock at 464mhz, and memory clock at 486mhz.
Edit: Now running at 475/485mhz.. Seems to be stable.

Do these settings seem ok?

What 3dmark score do you get.

Id imagine the CPU could well be letting you down a bit

That sounds about right i'm afraid. What's the rest of your system's specs?

I'd suggest running a more standard benchmark to get a real idea of performance, 3dmark05 and/or 3dmark06 should give you a number that you can compare against other peoples systems.

What part number is it? Manufacturer? 128Mb/256Mb/512Mb?

unfortunately the 7600gs cards are basically poo for gaming. DDR2 and 12 pixel pipes

Guess I'll need a new mobo, processor and grfx card then!

Anything else I could change to make the card perform better? Or should I go ahead and spend on upgrading a few bits?

not really

you could do with a nice C2D e2200 or similar, some nice fast DDR2 ram and an 8800 GT. Should run just about anything, and cost about £300.
