How good are these by todays standards?

Im going from a Ti4200 so the increase should be quite nice.

Just wanting confirmation and a gentle nudge to get me to buy this card.

Any ideas on best drivers?
And user comments or thing to look out for?

Thanks in advance.

J

Geforce 4 --> Geforce 7

I think the jump would be noticeable, the 7600gt is still a good card, it's no slouch

latest drivers are probably best

I bought a Galaxy 7600GS "Premium" which is clocked almost as fast as the GT - and I gotta say that I was pleasantly suprised, especially considering it was only £52.50 brand new :D

Far Cry runs on high settings (not highest), CoD2 runs also on high, and company of heroes runs no problem on medium (didn't try high or ultra).

I think it's worth getting one. Mine is just to fill me in whilst I wait for 8900's or something that really makes me wanna blow £270-£290. I have the money sitting there waiting, it's just a case of the graphics card scene looking quieter before I buy (I don't want my card outdated within weeks - my X800 was fine for about 2 years before I really noticed it was getting on, I want that to happen again).

EDIT: Although mine was PCI-E. Maybe you should consider putting the money in a pot, and saving up for a new mobo/cpu/ram combo?

The 7600GT is a great card and even in AGP it will give the latest games a good go at medium/high settings :)

I got one of the GS premium cards too, they are fantastic!. What clocks you getting from it Furnace?

Ben

My mate was thinking about getting a 7600GT, but my guess is that it wouldn't be that much of an upgrade from the 6800GT he has at the moment?

7600GT's are very good cards. They give 2/3rds of X1950Pro performance for half of the price. They will play any current gam at reasonable resolutions.

I have a pci-e Xpertvision card that oveclock nicely to 690/1650 (GPU/MEM).

Should be slightly quicker, in some cases a 7600GT is quicker than a 6800 Ultra

Awesome aren't they :D

I'm at stock clocks, haven't tried overclocking; Core 500mhz / RAM 1400mhz. What about you?

Yeah they are great cards for the price and I as able to pick up a 7600 GT OC with faster clocks for a sweet £57

The stock clocks on mine were 550/1550mhz, benches and runs all day long at that speed too lolol mine was supposedly a "superclocked" version or summin

Installed the C&C 3 demo last night - EATS IT at 1440x900 with everything med/high and 4xAA

£45 of gfx card joy!

Can I see my nVidia's clocks from within the driver control panel or anything? Those clocks were stated in the auction but I haven't seen the actual clocks yet.

yeah mate, get something like RIVATUNER, that will show you the current clocks, or NVtweak that gives you ability to overclock in the nvidia panel :)

This card is a stop gap whilst I save to get my c2d system!

Its teamed up with a P4 3GHz 1Mb L2 cache HT prescott and 1Gb ddr1@400.
