Missus is having new SFF PC built based on the Antec NSK1300 case.

Originally, this was going to have her 7600GT installed. However, despite the upgrade from a X1300 Pro, lol, she still gets a bit of video lag when she's gaming on F.E.A.R.

FEAR is being played at 1440x900 on 19" WideScreen
The PSU spec for the case is 300 Watts with 18 Amps on the 12v rail.

Can I cram a better card in here, or is the PSU going to suck ?
CPU wise, I'm looking at the X2 3800 Energy Efficient model paired with 2x1GB DDR2-533.

So, any ideas ? Nvidia only please, she only plays FEAR mainly and my X1900GT seems to suck at it, but handles everything else fine.

Oh, budget: Anywhere between £100-£200.

was going to recommend an x1950pro since the ati cards are usually strong performers in fear. odd why your performance is low with x1900gt.

only other card that is low on power and low on heat would be a 7950gt, but you can still get 7900gto's for £180 inc vat and delivery which is not too shabby a card for the work your going to put it through.

You'll be hard pushed to find something better with that PSU. I'd recommend a 7900GS but that will be only a smidgen faster than the 7600GT and *may* draw too much power for that PSU.

x1950pro, unbeatable speed for the price, doesn't really have much competition. (and im someone to lean towards nvidia cards)

7950gt would be the nvidia alternative but it packs less punch.

would agree & also add the 7950GT would be more likely to need a better psu.

He has this psu tho so not sure why he needs a better one as it should do.

HiperPwr 580watt

Tho in his sig he says & std 350w which there i would agree needs better psu. So erm which are you using there?

I think a few people are misunderstanding me.

The new card is *not* for me rig (that is in my signature below).

Its for the Wife. She's having a new SFF PC built, that has a 300Watt PSU with 18 Amps on the 12v Rail. She was going to have a 7600GT Card put into this new machine, but seems she has occaisonal Video Lag when playing FEAR at 1440x900 on a 19" Widescreen monitor.

Question is, whats the best Nvidia card that this PSU will support ?

Are you sure there are no other reasons why the 7600GT is causing video lag. Just sounds like there may be something else a foot.
What driver revision are you using and what's the mobo chipset?

try rolling back to 91.47 or there abouts, the later drivers seem to give lots of issues and many waiting for further ipdates.
