7600GT V's 6800GT fastest

Quite a bit according to this site:

The 6800 cards are agp though I think, never seen 6800GT & GS underperform that bad compared to a 6600GT.

EDIT:
Ah yes lol agp cards all except for the last one... :(

Generally the 7600GT is considered, on average, just a bit better than the 6800 Ultra. As always with this sort of comparison it all depends on which game or benchmark you choose. So the difference is not huge; now substituting a X1950 pro for the 7600GT would give a considerable increase in performance.

I'm sure i read that a 7600gt is the same if not slightly faster than 2x 6800 ultras in sli !

I went from a 6600gt to a 7600gt and that was a good performance increase. If you have a 6800gt now and i presume AGP from those 2 cards (could be pci-e though) i would say either stick with the 6800gt or go for a x1950pro. 7600gt is better than 6800gt but its not a massive upgrade. Get the x1950pro!

7600GT is a damn good card was fine for me till I upgraded to an X1800XT back in september.

However, if you're looking to step up from your 6800GT I suggest you pick up a X1950 Pro good cards at a good price at the moment :)

Don't eggagerate people, 7600GT is only a bit faster than the 6800GT, I mean, when you do agp vs pci-e, then the 6800gs and GT on pci-e beat the agp 7600GT...

Wouldn't bother upgrading that way, just get a 1950 pro, or save up some mroe and go 8800GTS, just imo :p .

as far as performance goes, AGP vs PCE-E is a tiny (or no) difference. Its been proven over and over. If you have an AGP board then its worth getting an AGP card. For a new build then PCI-E is the only option mainly beacuse of the choice of cards. An AGP 7600gt is much faster than a PCE-I 6800gs and i have first hand exprience of this exact comparison. The AGP vs PCI-E is a whole other thread. Dont let it put you off an upgrade.

My brother has the 6800GT and my second PC has the 7600GT... both AGP.

Back before I got my new Conroe system me and him ran all games at pretty much the same settings and got similar results in 3dmark, CSS etc.

The cards for agp and pci-e are different though, the 6800GS on pci-e is a lot faster than the 6800GS on agp, because it's clocked 75 mhz higher.

Last time I checked 7600GT agp was below the 5k mark in 3dm05 (combined with some a64 cpu) , while the pci-e 6800gs and gt both are above it.

So ill repeat, I dont mean the difference is because of the interface itself, but the 6800 series for agp and pci-e are just different chips and/or clock speeds...

Thanks for all the info, i picked it up in the MM forum as I'm just building a second rig for my E4300 & DS3 and only looking to play BF2 on it at the girlfriends house when i'm board :p , I already have 8800GTX with my QX6700 at home ;)

Was looking at 7600GT and worked out only £20 so i'll see how the 6800GT does and then might sell up and get 7600GT or 1950Pro
