7600GT with a 19" Widescreen

If your getting performance problems at 1152x864 with your 7600GT and other system specs there must be some issue. I can understand one or two momentary slowdowns (i.e. heavy smoke and explosions) but you should be getting >60fps almost constantly with BF2.

7600GT should easily handle 1440x900 in BF2 cos my 9800pro could easily handle 1280x1024 with almost maxxed out settings and no AA. Check to see all your graphics control panel settings are set for performance. You probably have transparency supersampling switch on or something.

I researched all that last week. all the advanced driver setting are set perfectly. bf2 does run fine untill you see artillary or any sort of explosion, reversing in vehicles also slows it down a bit because of the dust that flys in front.

im starting to think its just me being fussy

Gashman what resolution you play at and do you play with vsync on??

(with the 2 7600gts)

vsync is always turned off cause its evil, resolution is whatever my monitors native resolution is, not sure to be honest 1680*1050 i think

yeah the 7600GT beats the 6800 ultra, mine are quite overclocked as well so i get around 7100 or so in 3D mark '05 with single card, there very good cards for there cost

i play all my games at 1440x900 and have a much lesser card - an x800gto with 128mb ddr1 mem. :D

admittedly i don't play bf2 or any of the recent system breakers such as oblivion, but here's a few i play with most settings on high (no aa/af though)

quake4
hl2 and hl2 episode 1
gta:sa
flatout2
cod2 -dx7 mode obviously.... :p

i scrape about 4000 in 3dmark05 to give some idea how inferior my card is... ;)

dont you get tearing when vsync is off?

how far did u overclock 1 7600gt, i got 610/810

nope, no tearing, i got both upto 655/835 with zalman fatal1tys on both

Edit: i don't play BF2 though

im going to order early next week, hopefully it should be alright. if not il have to get another 7600gt, but ocuk dont sell the xfx 7600 GT anymore, would the leadtek work alright

leadteks are good value, according to an online review there the best clocking 7600s and getting mine BOTH to 655/835 without any voltage modifications or anything, leadtek for the win :D

slightly worse and louder if you mean the vf700 one, the vf900 one will be slightly better and louder

mine are definately louder than VF-900, they have big, fast spinning fan, its not irritating whining noise but more of a 'woosh' im not sure about cooler performance, there a fair bit better at cooling than the VF-700 and im don't think the 700 is much behind VF-900 so there proberbly pretty even

I did say "slightly" ;)

Based on a comparison I saw they are pretty even but the vf700 is a bit louder, although they used a low powered card which wasnt really fair. Had it been on an x1800xt the diference would have been a bit bigger due to the vf900's more efficient design.
