not sure
hi all ive got at the mo:

amd 2500+ mobile chip clocked to 3200+ speeds 2.2ghz
abit nf7-s 2.0 m/b
corsair 1gig
ati 9800 pro
hyper type r psu

what i want to know is will i get more speed with this?

Leadtek GeForce 7600 GT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/DVI (AGP) - Retail

as me 9800pro is getting long in the tooth now?.

and when will they be getting more in as i know it says 2-3 days but will it and will it be at the same price its on now?.

thanks all.

You'll definately get a big boost in performance as the 7600 GT is actually faster than the 6800 Ultra, not sure when they will be back in, if it says 2-3 days then it should be around then, if it goes for a while longer saying that though then it will change to out, and i can't see the price changing, but to be on the safe side though you could always order it now, there cracking cards for the prices. :)

but wont me cpu restrict it as i cant get any thing faster than a 3200+ a socket wise any way.

will it be worth upgrading considering the rest of me spec?.

A 3200+ is fine actually, I ran an X1800XT on a 3400+ and it was a tiny bottleneck but nothing to worry about. You could always OC your 3200+ and see if it makes a difference, but something tells me it will be fine.

it is over clocked its a amd mobile 2500+ laptop cpu ive clocked it to be 3200+ speeds allready.then agian me temps are low eg case 25c and cpu 45c max under load so could.

should i or should i order tomorrow haha.

Ah my mistake. :) Well even at 3200+ speeds it will be fine, not much of a bottleneck at all there.

I too have a similar spec (oc'd barton 2500) and plan on getting one of these cards. I had considered a 7800gs, but I think that would be overkill and would be held back. I think the 7600gt will give similar results anyway at the res I play at.

Plus if the CPU is bottlenecked, can't we just up the AA and AF a bit to make use of the GPU's power?

yes if the cpu is the limit then just keep upping the AF and AA till the framerates become unplayable.
LOL, I love the dryness of this post. :D It's true though, I always wonder why people advise doing that. Makes no sense really.

i can explain this for you.

e.g gfx card used is 7600gt. rez = 1280x1024

with cpu xp3200 in game X average fps = 75

with cpu fx57 in game x average fps = 100

do this:

rez = 1280x1024 slap on 16x AF and 2xAA

with cpu xp3200 in game x now the average fps = 70

with cpu fx57 in game x now the average fps = 70

now since you have added AA and AF the gpu has become the limitation, and when you play game X it runs similar regardless of the cpu.

now do you understand? this is a very rough example i have just scribbled down for you but the mechanics are correct.

Rad x850xt > Geforce 7600 GT any improvement? or same?

I'm only upgrading because im selling my rig and need a gfx card for my new rig.

Also how cool dooes it run with stock cooler?

The 7600GT is close to the X850XT. So it wouldnt be an upgrade.
But you shouldnt really notice the difference if moving from AGP to PCIE.
It should run pretty cool too.
