Should I ditch it? I'm very happy with my PC however slightly ****** off that I can't go to a coffee lake cpu with out changing the lot so is it worth upping it to 7700k for further longativity or sell up and move to ryzen?

I think it's just an upgrade itch but wondered what others thought?

Only aspect I don't like in my PC is my mechanical drives there 5 year old wd green and are terrible! I salvaged them from an old nas

Going to ryzen will be a downgrade in terms of gaming performance but will give you an option of upgrading in future. Though buying x2 cpu's in the hope that the next one will beat your current one in games is not very cost effective.
I imagine there will be a few cheap 7700k's coming for sale soon though as soon as coffeelake stocks are up.

Ryzen can beat the 7600K. Depends on the game and chip to a big extent.

AM4 is place to be, but if you're happy with the performance I'd sit tight.

I am just feel abit gutted, I bought it at launch as my previous rig was am3 and died but needed a PC so couldn't wait and tbh I didn't have faith in amd coming out with anything decent, turns out I was wrong :/

If it does what you need keep it.
If you sell cup and board you stand to lose a lot because of coffee lake prices.

Ryzen can't beat the 7600k lol. Don't make me get the graphs out again.

Plz do but we want graphs for every game and every bench. Not just the hand picked ones.
Ryzen can beat it that's way coffee lake was rushed out.....

7600k Vs 1800x

Ryzen will be a side grade in a few games, lower in a lot of games winning the odd one here and there. If you are happy stick it out. Lot's happening next year to look forward to.

Cost wise ryzen 1700 is closer to the 7600k
If you want to use the 1600 that fine but pick a matching cost intel chip i3 7350k or i5 7400

Ppl always pick a better intel chip to compare with AMD it's never the 1800x Vs an i3 is it

I can show plenty of examples where the 7600k beats the 1800x. The games where ryzen wins are few and far between.

it not just about games, i know you can't imagine a pc been used for any other reason but they really is 1000's of other use's.
show me then graphs too

but like you said 1800x vs 7600k

Ok has 1070 in his sig. I'm guessing he likes games. Graphs incoming.

Funny how the guys defending ryzen dont/have not even owned one lol.

I feel I started a pc war haha, my pc is only used for games and nothing else :) I game at 2560x1080,

I also game at that res and with that same GPU.
I've actually owned a ryzen cpu unlike the guys defending it. Believe me, its not as fast as your 7600k.
Ryzen may provide a smoother experience but its not worth swapping for.
