I know this has more than likely been done before and i know there will be bound to be arguements but please keep them to a minimum i cba with fan boys getting emotional. I want answers from people who know there stuff and can get there point across without being argumentative.

I would like to know out of the TWO what is better? Im not interested in the 7950 before anyone mentions that card and with regards the chosen cards there the two i like the look of.

So to bussiness YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus HD 7970 Matrix Platinum 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £379.99
1 x Gainward GeForce GTX 770 Phantom 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £359.99
Total : £752.88 (includes shipping : £10.75).

Im leaning twards the 770 beacuase you always hear the old intel loves nvidia more thing, but tbh i think the 7970 looks beasty as hell! running with an i5 4670k

Thanks muchly

thanks for the responces, i did love the idea of the lightening cards untill i read all the bad press and reviews on the amd version, is that sorted now? The cards seems fairly close from what little benchmarks i've seen but in the same respects sometimes one pulls away from the other on certain things, its driving me mad lol. The only thing i can think more of nVidea is for the physx and man do i love it! Not many games use it but it set to max on borderlands 2 looks awsome, i know you can still do it with amd but it puts a fair wack more strain on the cpu that way.

That aside, with all things being equal, it makes no sense to go for a 2GB 256bit bus card over a 3GB 384 bit bus card when GPU performance is similar.

Without wanting to start the age old row over actuall gb usage from what i understand at 1080p on a single monitor setup i wont actually gain anything from having 3gb no game uses that much........yet

Just been looking up on that lightening it seems pretty damn good think i'l get that one. @retro for single monitor gaming do you think i'll ever need to go down the sli route? probs pointless right?

I've put my 7970 up for sale, wanting to try a 770 for some strange reason, would have went 780 if it wasn't for the price. Will try the new top end AMD card out though when they eventually release it.

Might be worth me holding out till you get one then you can say out of the two whats better lol

With regards overclocking, come on guys i buy from overclockers, im a frequenter of the forums of course i plan on overclocking xD i have an ati 7850 atm and its overclocked like a boss, did actually overclock it too much and had to tone it down a bit.

I must admit mind after looking at the 770lightning im drawn to it somthing cronic! The lure of free games is nice with the 7970 tho thats for sure. I just want (as we all do) the best i can get atm.

I dont feel anymore forward lol, i keep humming and hahing, and although the at stock the 770 wins i know from what i have now ati cards are so easy to overclock and like to be overclocked. Im gonna put two cards up, there the same price in retrospect as if i got the ati one i'd sell the mouse and mouse mat getting about 50quid back. Im thinking lets start a vote? Whatever card gets the most votes ima just get that one lol

YOUR BASKET

1 x MSI Geforce GTX 770 Lightning 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £359.99
Total : £791.38 (includes shipping : £9.50).

I didnt think getting a new gpu would require so much thought lol

WOOT! Since i was here last two and a half full pages of ranting? come on dudes theres no need <3 I phoned overclockers today coz honestly i've been looking, reading and listening to all sorts for two weeks solid now and he said nVideas simply better in everyway, better driver support, better quality, better performance blah blah blah. Also i found this, and tbh this is the settler for me http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-219-EA&tool=3 look at the first review, from somone random who i've not spoken too has gone from 7970 to 770 and noticed improvments. Im even gonna buy that exact card, and when/if the time comes it can no longer play my games at ultra/max with a min 60fps i'll either get another in sli or wait till whatever gen is out at the time.

Wish i could afford the gtx780 coz atm bar the titen its the best card going im putting said new gpu in an i5 4670k system so gotta pay for the whole thing.

One note i would like to point out to everyone and perhaps its more of a plus side to amd as apposed to nvidea but the 780 has the same spec (ish) on paper as the 7970 with regards size of vram 3gb and memory bandwidth 384bit so perhaps that is the future?

Never the less still going with the 770 purely on that guys review on ocuk site.

ok so im back to sqaure one, you guys have no idea how ****ing confused i am right now! Just when i think i've made a solid choise boom :'(

Spoffle, bf4 thats an amd title right? so im guessing it'll perform better on the 7970? one last thing i <3 borderlands i mean i really love it! physx is'nt a problem going ati is it? i can just use my cpu to run physx?

I just know nVidia more despite having an ati right now is all. Its hard for me to spend 300+ quid on somthing without taking the time to make sure its a valid spend, the games with the ati are a freebee really i already own them but like you say i can sell them easy.

And rather childishly my mate has the 670 and i want somthing that will destroy his lmao

I might have come across as harsh, however it's because lots of advice has been given, and it seemed like it was being discounted.

I was actually taking your advice in quite a lot ;) Theres just an nvidea itch in there lol, but i just want power, performance. And tbh more mem bandwidth makes more sence. Just gotta find a monster 7970 now

Cool that one it is, i must admint i love how the asus matrix platinum one looks but somone said he had that card and would'nt reccomend it, and tbh its going in a closed case so who cares lol. Get the above card and see how high it can be pushed safely :)

Cool, finnaly decided, i can bloody relax now, cant wait to get this new system :D Gonna **** all over what i've got now, and more importantly annoy my mate lol

looks like amd ftw for most here lol i did turn physx on with my current setup it looked awsome but i didnt get more than 12fps :O lol
