Hey i was wondering if someone can help. I am looking to get a new graphics card and was wondering whats best to get.

I see the 780 is about £150 more but will the extra vram etc help. To last longer untill the future before needing to reupgrade as some people say bf4 will need more vram then 2 gigs and all this

i run 1920 x1080 only 1 monitor

Many Thanks GothicCorpse

770 vs 780

It isn't so much the amount of Vram but the bandwidth. Whether the 256bit bus on the 770 is enough is debatable. Have a read here http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18527992

Personally, I owned a 770 and now have a 780. There is of course a difference but whether that difference is enough to warrant the extra £200 or so is a bit dubious =)

On that res with a single monitor a 770 will be fine. However, in the future the extra memory bandwidth on the 780 plus the extra grunt will allow the possibility for SLI 780. I don't see 2 x 780 struggling for a long time.

The 770 2gb vram + 256bit bus is a bit limiting for SLI at high res/multi screen. FOr single monitor should be fine though.

One point of note. If you do go for the 780 you might enjoy the card but you will probably feel like you've been shafted. Hard. It is a difficult feeling to shake ;)

ah thanks for the info :) yeah may just go with 770 and put the extra cash to a better ssh or something :D

1 thing i was wondering im wanting to get amd processor do you think they will have a mobo that will do sli or only crossfire :?

If cash is an issue I'd suggest the 770 might be the way to go, otherwise it's your choice. I think Nvidia did start to licence SLi to AMD boards in 2011.

i was just wondering would the mobo that you buy with a i7.
Work with the next newer processors or will they change the socket type. I see amd seems to stay with amd+3 will intel change sockets :S?

Well my thread got closed but i ended up picking a GTX770 today for delivery tomorrow.

I skipped GTX680 as didnt think it was muich of a step up from my GTX580. Ive actually kinda side graded during the last 2.5 years to a gtx560 ti448.

Unfortunately the GTX780 came in at the sort of performance i expected but at a price i considered too high. Was expecting it to be around £425 & then i would have definitely bitten. But at £500+ I personally struggle to justify the extra compared to a GTX770 which is only about 15-20% behind but costs significantly less at £300.

I actually did try to buy a Palit GTX780 Superjetstream yesterday for £500 delivered but since i had a new card Santander decided to bounce my payment on secruity reasons. Before i could fix this issue i ran out of time & had to return to work, so missed the cut off for next day delivery

Having had another whole night to consider again between the GTX770 & GTX780 I decided as im likely to have a big upgrade in April 2014 i.e. cpu/mobo/maxwell/1440p monitor I thought id just accept buying a Gtx 770 to tie me over the next 10 months.

http://www.hardwareheaven.com/revie...stream-graphics-card-review-introduction.html This was a good review to convince me to just go for a GTX 770 oc as it has both the Palit GTX780 Superjetstream & EVGA GTX770SC reviewed (approx same clocks as MSI Gaming i ordered) so shows exactly how much more you get for your £200.... To me it just wasent worth it. Also http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_770/27.html

Neither card was ideal for me as GTX770 isnt the upgrade step i wanted, especially as ive already skipped GTX680 & waited another full year+, but the GTX780 imo is simply overpriced & despite having the money for it I cannot justify the extra 66% price.

Having said that ive waited over 2.5 years to upgrade & i cba to wait til likely May til Maxwell without treating myself to something shiney in mean time.
