Over at HWbot Splave has just set a new World record on Super Pi32m using Intels new kabylake 7700K cpu http://hwbot.org/submission/3402704_splave_superpi___32m_core_i7_7700k_4min_20sec_250ms/

Although this is only 2 seconds ahead of its nearest rival a 6700k clocked at 6.9ghz this is an interesting result in that the cpu(7700k) is an early sample and no doubt there will be better ones that surface once they go full retail. The 6700k that i mentioned is a very rare beast and quite possibly in the top 1% of all 6700k's!

Kabylake is looking great for the extreme overclockers and only time will tell on how it fares for ambient cooling solutions.

you getting one when they come out then? looks pretty fast. it wont be long before we see 7.5ghz and maybe even 8ghz valid

Yeah i shall grab one at launch and see if i have any interest left in xoc! Not so sure it will go to those heights Lawrence but i can defo see it in the 7.3-74ghz range. No info on coldbug temps yet but its gotta be running full pot and if thats the case maybe we'll see the use of something colder than LN2!!!!

is the 6700K the one selling for 900 euro?
780 euro now

No its a different one, the one which Dan used at GOC is probably a touch better, is it Alexro who's selling? Cant remember and its early!!

The fastest Intel overclock was 8ghz on a cedar mill P4.

The fastest overclock in the world was on a bulldozer part at 8.5Ghz.

Nice work Allen.

Ln2 2v is fine no problem.

Strange posting so early before nda finishes. Those frequencys are great though.

I tested this stuff a fair bit if you need help with settings mate.

Thanks Ian, actually looking forward to have a play and to see if the bug bites again!! Will give Pete a bell after xmas to get things sorted.
Settings much different to skylake??
You maybe can't say at the moment? Can they go colder than LN2????

I didn't say it wasn't a good score, if you look at my post I said the best part is it's not even a world record. Implying that there's more than enough wriggle room there with Kaby. On the memory side especially.

You were getting defensive lol. Perhaps you can do better, perhaps you can't. Depends who you've had the pleasure of testing with. I'm really not bothered.

One thing is for sure, 8pack's records blow SilentTroll's out the water :D

That's funny Dave, considering both me and Pack have probably forgotten more than you know lol.

IMO wait for Zen or Coffeelake.

Kabylake (7700k) is exactly the same CPU as Skylake, that clocks 200Mhz higher on average. It also has a slightly better IGPU, which we don't care about. Skylake has been out for over a year, so in effect Kabylake is also already 'old' and IMO not worth the asking price at all (unless you benchmark/overclock for world records etc).

Zen should be a much better choice, or wait for the Intel 6 core mainstream i7's (codename Coffeelake) due out later in 2017 also. I imagine these will annihilate Zen.

Especially with posts like this. So there's no process refinement at all with Kaby, no? Not any better with memory?

Merry Christmas ;)

I don't think you can compare yourself with 8pack there buddy. He belongs in an elite overclocking club, whereas you belong under a cold, damp bridge. 8pack is his own brand, is extremely well known, whereas your just a forum troll.

I'm not sure why you quoted that post of mine, since it makes you look rather silly, as Kabylake is mostly only exciting for people who benchmark for a passion, or those chasing world records etc.

I still believe that for average joe, waiting for Zen or Coffeelake (mainstream 6 core's) is a better option, since Kabylake is very disappointing (it's Skylake +200Mhz, exactly the same architecture).

Merry Christmas :)
