Over at HWbot Splave has just set a new World record on Super Pi32m using Intels new kabylake 7700K cpu http://hwbot.org/submission/3402704_splave_superpi___32m_core_i7_7700k_4min_20sec_250ms/

Although this is only 2 seconds ahead of its nearest rival a 6700k clocked at 6.9ghz this is an interesting result in that the cpu(7700k) is an early sample and no doubt there will be better ones that surface once they go full retail. The 6700k that i mentioned is a very rare beast and quite possibly in the top 1% of all 6700k's!

Kabylake is looking great for the extreme overclockers and only time will tell on how it fares for ambient cooling solutions.

you getting one when they come out then? looks pretty fast. it wont be long before we see 7.5ghz and maybe even 8ghz valid

Yeah i shall grab one at launch and see if i have any interest left in xoc! Not so sure it will go to those heights Lawrence but i can defo see it in the 7.3-74ghz range. No info on coldbug temps yet but its gotta be running full pot and if thats the case maybe we'll see the use of something colder than LN2!!!!

is the 6700K the one selling for 900 euro?
780 euro now

No its a different one, the one which Dan used at GOC is probably a touch better, is it Alexro who's selling? Cant remember and its early!!

I tested this stuff a fair bit if you need help with settings mate.

Thanks Ian, actually looking forward to have a play and to see if the bug bites again!! Will give Pete a bell after xmas to get things sorted.
Settings much different to skylake??
You maybe can't say at the moment? Can they go colder than LN2????

I'm not sure why you quoted that post of mine, since it makes you look rather silly, as Kabylake is mostly only exciting for people who benchmark for a passion, or those chasing world records etc.

I still believe that for average joe, waiting for Zen or Coffeelake (mainstream 6 core's) is a better option, since Kabylake is very disappointing (it's Skylake +200Mhz, exactly the same architecture).

Merry Christmas :)

So for "average joe" why is the fastest gaming CPU disappointing?? There was only 1 bad thing about skylake and 99% of users will never get to experience the dreaded "CRACK!", hopefully this is resolved with Kaby. Memory tuning is great fun on Skylake and is said to get even better.

Which ever side you view, bencher or gamer, Kabylake will be the fastest solution available.
