7700k running temps

Hi all,

I'm running a 7700k with an overclock to 4.7 on a Corsair H80i cooler. I am having issues with temps, gaming it quite often goes above 90 degrees on most of the cores. I've tried reseating the cooler with fresh thermal paste twice and using a different cooler which has no impact. Any ideas or is it just a hot chip?

I'm in Phanteks Enthoo-Evolv case.

Thanks, i will look into this.

At the moment I just overclock by adjusting the core speed in the bios and don't mess with the voltages. I assume this is done automatically, is it better to do it manually?

my 7700k is currently at 5ghz 1.32v & tends to run around 55-58c under water.
It has been delidded though & liquid metal used.

The previous owner of the chip reported temps around 80-85c on air so theres a rough guide as to just how much delidding/watercooling will gain you.

maybe your IHS is fitted badly so it causing higher temps , even mine 4790k is delided to happy with result , but if you not happy return the chip buy delided one so you not void warranty by deliding it your self

I messed with the cpu voltage I was running "auto" in the bios. Getting 75 max now with a 4.9 overclock. Seems to be stable with a very low voltage, i've done three hours of prime95 with no issues but we shall see. 1.24 volts.

Maybe I'm just lucky but I don't see any of these temp problems on my i7-7700k. I did do a complete new build with a Corsair 115 cooler.
100% load is around 70c with gaming at around 50c to 60c.
It's overclocked to 4.9ghz with 1.29vcore.
It does seem quite a widespread issue though. I know someone with the same cooler as yours with those temps and at stock
