I'm just having a play with a 7740x I recently acquired, what sort of temps should I be seeing?
It seems to idle fine, room ambient is 29c, reported idle temp 33-35c which is in line with previous CPUs I've had.
I've given it a mild overclock on stock volts to 4.5ghz and using Realbench for stability checking it's reporting 88-90c on all cores(!) Is this just a reporting issue or legit temps? Presumably at these clocks and voltage it shouldn't be any hotter than a 7700k?
Cooler is a decent 240mm AIO, altering the performance curve of this makes near enough no difference.
I've reseated the cooler once and the TIM footprint looked fine and didn't make any difference to temps. I was hoping to have this up at 5ghz without too much trouble but not at this rate!
Any ideas? Motherboard is an ASRock X299 OC formula.
