Is it completely crazy of me to be considering this? For £220 it seems like a really good deal, also can get a semi decent x299 mobo for £150.

I'm thinking that'll be close in performance to say a 8700k build for £150 less?

Any insights? This is purely for gaming, otherwise I'd be considering Ryzen but the benchmarks have really put me off.

1080p with a 1070 ti. Looking to hold a solid 300ish fps in Overwatch really, atm it's varying from 220-250. Using a 2700k with a mild OC.

I've been messing around with the settings and am almost certain my CPU is a bottleneck stopping me from reaching higher consistent frames. I actually switched to 75% render scale to see if it boosted the frames but nope, ultra or low the fps stays around the same, I just don't think the 2700k is capable of rendering that amount of frames unfortunately. I don't think any of the Ryzen chips would give me any boost at all to fps, although there would be other benefits especially when it came to upgrading later on. The other route for slightly more money would be 9600k.
