Probably the last "upgrade" to this system

What is best option, if any?? Cant afford to do the whole lot this time round.

currently have a E6750 @ 3.37ghz

Prices are a bit nasty - i fear i might have done this a bit late. :D

Prob the best bet is Q6600 which is a very nice quad core and easily overclockable. Mine has been at stock however.

I'm going to be selling mine but haven't quite got 250 posts yet :P

If your board will take it a Q9550... I "upgraded" from a Q6600 to a Q9550 so I could give the Q6600 to my dad - and wasn't expecting that much of a change but infact its a decent bit faster in many cases.

That's not to shabby, fast enough for most tasks still but if you owned it for several months then I can see how maybe your a bit bored and fancy something new to play with! :D

I wouldn't recommend any new LGA775 CPU apart from maybe a new Intel® Pentium® E6300 Dual-Core 2.8GHz (10.5x266) as they overclock like a yeti with no FSB limitation and not to much problem reaching 4GHz! :)

Other than that if your wanting to stick with LGA775 then keep your eyes peeled in the OcUK Members Market where you should be able to snag yourself a nice used Wolfdale E8400/E8500 dual-core or perhaps a Kensfield/Yorkfield Quad!

£80.00 should get you something nice to play with, I personally wouldn't be spending more on anything LGA775, instead look at some of the budget offerings from AMD or perhaps an Intel® Core™ i5 . . . . yeah you may not need a king long powerhouse but if you gonna upgrade you should consider going the whole hog or not at all heh! ;)
