I do not know what the best thing to do here,
I am considering changing my Board (Asus Striker 775) But I don’t see much point in going for another 775 board when there is DDR3 and i7 on the menu.

I have a Pair of 8800GTX’s (I’m sure one of is faulty), Poss. changing these cards too either a Pair of or single one of 285 / 295. I have 2 x 2 GB kits of OCZ Flex Ram (4 x 1 GB – 4GB) and a QX6700 @ 3.20GHz.

I am also looking at changing my Ram to make 8GB, but don’t see the point in paying for Decent DDR2 when there is Cheaper and Faster DDR3 avail.

Question, Do you guys think I will see a big diff in changing from
775 Asus Striker
Intel QX6700
4GB OCZ Flex

To something not so crazily expensive in the i7 range.

Thanks

Martin

IF i do end up having to change my rig, ill most likely keep my gear as another folding farm.
BUT, i will bare you guys in mind.

When was that changed, NikeBee, i have bought loads of stuff off the members market, but your right. i Canny see it :S EVIL, its the EVIL!

I have a thing about ATI, i will never buy one :(
Nvidia has to be there!

i5 - is interesting... but, my QX6700 out does the whole i5 range i read ?

I've been wondering about the I5 too or a motherboard change for my Q6600.

Are we at the point were the power is just silly.. I racked a HP 380 G6 the other week and thought why do we need this much grunt!

EpicCarnage should be able to see the MM...

mast3r you need to active your Trust :)

You should see it next to the quote, multi+ and quick buttons.

What's wrong with ATI? I agree everyone has preference and I tend to prefere nVidia myself as their drivers and control panels seem more lightweight... but ATI are really pushing ahead in terms of performance and price right now - they're hard to ignore!

AMD's purchase bearing fruits?

LoL.
AMD - used to be my no#1 but then intel brought out the "Extreme" and won me back over. allllthough i do have 3 Phenom 9650 rigs. lol.

Ill check that route if / when it comes to it.

So you all agree? dont spend more doh on topend DDR2 ram? Or skt775 board, but shell out abit more and go to the i5/7 route?

personally ide go i5/i7 as your just upgrading an End Of Line socket it may still be fast enough for your needs but the i5/i7 will do them slightly faster and last you longer down the line.
