Hi

I'm thinking of a cheap upgrade to a core2duo as my friend is selling me a new 1950xt 512mb agp cheap and I want something a bit faster! So far have been looking at

The reviews of the motherboard say that its not the best overclocker which means I can't really push the 2140. Are there any other 775 (which support agp and c2d) motherboards which will do a better job?

My other option is to sell the new 1950 on a popular auction site and go pci express, probably ending up with a similar card and costing me a bit more!

all adivce welcome
Thanks

You're not gonna find another board with AGP that clocks great.

Just to note a few things though, you could get 800mhz memory for literally no more then £10 more.

Secondly, sell the x1950 on that popular auction website then buy a PCI-E card from the Members Market in the near future when you gain access.

If you havnt brought the card already, hold out and buy a PCI-E one, you'll be limiting yourself by sticking to AGP.

Thinking about it though, can't you buy new bits then make some cash back selling what you're using now?

Another thing to note is DDR2 offers very little performance increase over DDR on that board, so you might be better off sticking to DDR to save cash.

Ok so selling and going pci-e is the way to go? The card is new (rma job) and I would be getting it for about 40-50 quid.

I was looking at the 6400 ram but the 4200 uses micron chips which should go much faster and from the review they do overclock better than the 66 quid ocz stuff, although I am still a bit undecided on that one!

If i do go pci-express whats the best board I can get for the cash? anything up to £80 ish would be reasonable, dual gigabit lan would be a bonus and I have a x-fi so the onboard sound is not important!

Thanks again
