780 bios flash headache

Morning all.

Decided to flash back to my stock bios from the modded ones, done this a dozen times in the past with no issues albeit on a different motherboard.

Basically nvflash says the flash was successful, the bios revision id changes on both 780's but I loose sli options and anything that tries to read the cards or put them in a 3d state crashes the system. If I flash back to the mod bios everything is fine.

The board I'm using now has a plx chip, so this becomes GPU i0 in nvflash with my two 780's becoming i1 & i2 respectively - I think this is where something is going wrong.

I've tried clean drivers with ddu, different sli bridges and different fresh bioses.

I'm pretty stuck tbh so any help welcome.

Sorry to hear of your problems mate. I can offer salvation though in the form of the #RedTeam. We'd be delighted to have you back with us. :p

Hope you get it sorted soon. :)

Uninstal drivers, take one out of system and flash 1 at a time in safe mode>reinstall driver using 1 card>reboot add second GPU/bridge???

Will try that tomorrow, though can't remove cards, hopefully the PCI kill switches do what they say on the tin.

Just have this sinking feeling it's to do with the motherboard, flashed back and forth no problem on a non-plx board just fine.

Ah, never crossed my mind you'd have them plumbed in, good luck with the switches, what mb you running out of interest?

Would like to know how the switches turn out, maybe the only way to run a true hybrid 'all proper gpu features' individually per say without physically removing a gpu for said feature to run as advertised.

Z97 Xpower, its a feature I've started looking for when buying motherboards due to water cooling, though this will be the first time I've had to use it!

Hopefully it works as I'm done benching for now and the stock bios boost is a good 20% quicker then the modified bios which I'll need for 4k :D

It makes no sense, purely because it should work regardless of what BIOS you are using. Do what Tommy suggests (which I also did say to do) and if that doesn't work, look for a new mobo bios and if that doesn't work, set clocks higher with Kepler bios tweaker and stick with the modded bios.

Is it possible that your stock bios has become corrupted? if the issue was occuring during flashing I would assume your modded bios would be affected as well. Does uninstalling drivers before flash and reinstalling them afterwards help?

That's on my list to do mmj.

Uninstall drivers, kill the second cards PCI slot, remove power and sli bridge from it, flash first bios, install drivers, check it works, if so rinse and repeat for second card, if not cave my head through the nearest wall.

I did think about the stock bios becoming corrupt, I've since tried both regular and glh phantom bioses from tpu which gave me the same result.

It's better for clocking the cards yes, but the stock clock is only around 950mhz, the stock bios is 1110mhz, I don't often have afterburner or the likes running 24/7 to keep it as an oc, prefer the clocks to be doing that out of the box.

Did PCI kill switches work?I've got water cool pc as well so something like that would be handy in my new mobo in the future. How you getting on with solving your problem?

Well what an absolute failure of a feature that is.

Disable lanes 2-3-4, get no display output, re-enable slot 3 (second card) and I get a display output.

So, in short, PCI kill switches on the Z97 Xpower are complete and utter ****.

Edit: Actually, NVCP says the monitor is connected to card 2, when its blatantly not, I can see the bloody thing from my seat!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, **** this ****. ******* retarded PLX motherboards

DDU sweep.
BIOS flash card 1 - complete
reboot
BIOS flash card 2 - complete
Reboot
Install latest WHQL
Reboot
Pop up saying no SLI bridge installed - bridge removed previously, an option I didn't get before
Shut down
Install SLI bridge
Looses display output on first boot
No SLI options in NVCP
Stutters around until crashing.

WAT THE **** IS WRONG WITH THIS HEAP OF JUNK!!!!!

At this rate my Z87X-OC is going back in.

Edit: actually **** 1150 entirely, I'm going back to x79.
