Hi all. For those who didn't know, I recently sold my 7990 for quite a bit more than I bought it for due to the mining craze. I then decided to go for a change and hence bought a 780 Classified (courtesy of OCUK who delivered on Christmas Eve as promised). The other cards I was contemplating were R9 290 (with non ref cooler), 290X and 780 ti. This is all for very much a second rig mainly used by my son but also for me to play on from time to time.

The card looks of very high quality materials. Some pics:

Some benches in the second post...

The card maxes at 1.2V at stock and I haven't modified the bios at all. I will play around with higher voltages in the next few days but max clock I could obtain at stock was 1250Mhz core (with mild memory OC).

3dMark11 with CPU at 4.6GHz:

Heaven 4 with CPU at 4.8 GHz:

Firestrike:

This card feels like a beast and once I unlock voltage control, I don't see much of a reason why it can't go near 1350/1400MHz core. The fans are quiet even at higher speeds (compared to the 7990 and my previous windforce 670). Temps max out at 65C with 60% fan speed.

You'll struggle to get much over 1.3Ghz core speed with 1.2v as it normally requires more voltage.

1.4Ghz typically requires 1.35v+

I'm at 1.3Ghz with 1.212v on a modified BIOS

Yeah mine maxes out at 1280MHz with 1.212v stable, can get it through heaven at the next speed bin up 1293 IIRC but its not game (BF4) stable. (Need to double check its not limited by the memory clock though as I find the core/memory clocks have a strange relationship in regard to whats stable on the other).

Apologies, been drinking a *tad* ;) :D

Congrats on the purchase dude, lush card

No worries cheers.

Almighty and Rroff, have you used any tools to unlock higher voltage? I'm aware of skyn3t's bios and afterburner trick to do this but is there a way apart from this and using evbot (which I can't seem to buy anywhere)?

Does the LN2 bios give higher voltage control? Is it safe to try it on air just to bump to a max of 1.3v or so?

If you can find gregster on here, he's got link in his sig to skynets bios, and also rbby tool.

Using the skynets bios, with afterburner beta 17 was only able to get up to 1280 at 1.212v

Then using beta 15 and rbby tool, was able to get up to 1306. Can't remember if needed more voltage, but I did notice less vdroop in this combo.

This was with lightning though.

Have fun :-)

Wish was home playing with my card :-(

Cheers guys. Yes I know about Gregg's thread and have modded my 2 other 780s. Was wondering though if the classified comes with an unlocked bios as stock without the need to reflash?

Has anyone tried the LN2 bios switch on the card?

Glad you got a decent one :) Mine wasn't stable at 1.2ghz with those volts.
I've got to try and sell the backplate for it now :o

Nope it doesn't. The LN2 switch just increases the power limit by a few percent.
