Hi All

I need to fit an EK backing plate on the rear PCB of an EVGA 780GTX SC.
The question is, do you need to fit any thermal pads on the back (have looked around the net but can't find anything)
Hopefully someone can answer this before I short out a card.

Thanks

On a 780 no, on a titan probably.

All of the memory modules on a 780 are on the underside of the pcb next to the chip with it having just the 3gb of vram, while the titan has 6gb, 3gb around the chip as the 780 has and a further 3 gb on the top side of the pcb :)

Thermal pads will be provided for those top side memory modules on the titan.

Thanks very much for the info.
The instructions have never been altered on the EK web page to help anyone fit these plates on the 780 's
As you said, the Titan has the extra RAM chips on the back & thermal pads are included for these.
Just wanted to make sure there is nothing that needs the extra cooling on the back :)
I remember when I did the 680's, there were small areas that needed thermal pads & thought these could be the same.
Just trying to make sure before I start fitting blocks tomorrow.

No pads required, just slap on the backplate as you would any other card tbh. That's what i did with mine and its fine :D
I remember my 7970 needed some pads, but nothing like that on the 780.

Thanks very much
Going to do the blocks today, so will have first hand experience in a few hours :)
