Hey guys,So going along with my old topic of what Single GPU to get next.

Seen as the 780TI has been announced and i believe it's coming out mid November,Thinking about pulling the trigger on the 780.

Should i just wait for the 780TI?

Because obviously the TI is going to be more powerful,Also cost a little more,But what would you guys do in my position?

Many thanks

Assuming you don't need a card right away, hold fire till the 290X and 780Ti are released and then compare them to see what's best for you.

Hard to say, it most definitely will drop selling old stock, but i dont think nvidia will force a price drop on this one.

Well my cards will be gone today,I'll have 0 cards in my system,Saying that i am very patient when it comes to waiting.

So seen as the 290x and 780ti are going head to head,I think that's what i might end up doing.

Why would a 780 be considered "old stock". This isnt like the price drops for the Nvidia 6XX series/ AMD 7xxx series that we have seen. Those were "old generation parts". For all we know, the 780 will stay at its current price point and the 780ti will come in at £100 more (£600)

The r9 290x from amd looks to be a good bit faster than the gtx780 and will be released this month. The rumors suggest it will be priced well so that's where my money would go at this point in time. The problem with the released benchmarks so far is they are at extreme resolution so we don't know how it will compare at say 1080p but i doubt very much it will lose all of the 20% gains so should still be a good bit faster. My reasoning is the gtx780 is a good high resolution card so its mainly gpu grunt that is keeping the 290 faster rather than the slightly higher memory bandwidth.

I think the 780TI, if rumours are true it's just a more cuda 780, will come in at same price as 780 @ ~£500.

It'll then be upto retailers to rid their 780s at a lower price. I assume they are gonna sell fast so the reduction will be minimal, especially the very overclockable ones.

But if the 780TI is gonna be coming in as the fastest card around then what you said will probably be true.

It's not like the old 780 is hard to sell, even if overpriced.

I'm not going to lie,I want a Nvidia branded card for the Physx and other Nvidia exclusive things like FXAA etc,That said,If the AMD comes in the right price point and is quite a bit faster than the 780,I will have a look at it.

Fxaa can be used on amd cards and they also have msaa which gives slightly better image quality. Physx on the other hand your tied into nvidia.

Edit: mlaa not msaa.

Aha i see now,lol What about a titan? I could spend a little more towards a titan,Or don't bother?

The titan is overpriced and the gtx780 overclocks really well to the point that the titan does not really offer any benefit gaming wise. On the nvidia side waiting to see what the gtx780ti offers is probably your best bet. Unfortunately nobody knows anything about it but nvidia did say it will be there fastest card. The name gtx780ti suggests it won't be priced like Titan.
