780 ti sli & Tri sli

In my opinion a 480 isn't a big enough upgrade from a 780ti. I had a EVGA GTX780 FTW which is not far off ti perfromance and ruled out the 480/1060 pretty quickly due to it not giving a worthwhile performance increase. In the end I went for a 1070 which is coming on for twice the performance of my old card. I would never consider a multiple card setup either. More heat, more power, more noise and potentially game ruining bugs. Either go for a 1070/1080 or wait for AMD to finally release a high end card.

Thanks for the info, just looking to make an incremental update to my gpu as not moving from 1080p res any time soon. So wouldn't want to spend the kinda money needed to go for a 1070.

Didn't realise SLI had gone down hill, used to have sli 570's and they scaled like a charm.

^ its not SLI its the devs

overwatch for example scale 100% exactly. but witcher only 75% then other games <20%

I will have a look to see if there is a list out there of SLI friendly games. Mainly just play fallout 4 and will play mass effect Andromeda on pc.

I'd go for a single 480 or 1060,

With the 780ti older games like Metro show it performing well but in newer games it's a lemon even outperformed by the 1050ti at times. 3gb Kepler cards are not suited for modern games, There's been recent reviews on how it runs games today so look one of those up and you'll see that in newer games both the 1060 and 480 often have a significant lead, I certainly would go sli-ing a 780ti today.

Also, try and get some posting done as you're almost at the 1000 limit which gives you access to the members market, I'm sure you'll find a bargain or two on there in the coming weeks.

780ti to 480/1060 isn't necessarily a straight forward move - the 780ti still shows strong performance in some stuff but there are games where the 480 will leave it for dust so if you play those a lot it becomes a much more worthwhile upgrade but otherwise it might be not a huge jump for the money even after selling the 780ti. I'd be wary of canned benchmarks as well - often for some reason they have Kepler cards way down on what actual users will be seeing - I was running a 780GHz clocked to about 10% faster than a stock 780ti before I upgraded to the 1070 and enjoying 1440p with most if not all settings turned up (generally the only thing I'd have to sacrifice was maybe turning down MSAA a bit or using something like FXAA) but if you go by the reviews it would suggest that framerates would be pretty dire with that kind of setup and they simply weren't.

I wouldn't bother with SLI unless you can source another 780ti ridiculously cheap to see how well it works for you.

As above I'd seriously consider the possibility of a 1070 if you want to see a decent upgrade in all around performance.

1070 can be had for as cheap as £335 new with game code etc.. if you have a little look.. sli 780 ti is what £300?

1070 is much better will run cooler and require less power

I've had 780 ti sli .. 2 x matrix platinum cards.. trust me they get toasty! that was under water too

but I always felt my gtx 780 evga sc sli cards worked better together.. performance is there though..

but seeing how the 1070 is basically the same price I would go 1070 or hell.. a 1080 was on today only for £455 which is a even bigger jump.. :p

There have been a lot of 1070's in the MM since the 1080ti launch and the 1080 price drops. FE cards have gone for £280 and cards with decent coolers £310-320.
