I am planning on getting a new gaming PC from DELETED in the next few weeks (I know it would be cheaper to build one, but I can only pay over months and I want the warranty!!) the XPS seems very expensive, but that is the only model with the GTX card included. If I configure a 9150 with more or less the same specs (pentium 940 dual core processor, 250gb HD 1GB RAM), it is about 600 pounds cheaper! It just lists the card as a '7800' though, not a GS or GTX. I didnt know such a card existed - what are the differences and would it be decent? I have a 6600GT at the mo and want a significant increase!!

I didn't know there was as vanilla 7800 either. It's probably just dell short hand for a GT or a GTX. Call and ask them.

As for a difference, it'll be plenty noticable. I made a similar jump myself (from a 6800 to a 7800gt) and was not dissapointed at all.

The GT isnt that much worse than the GTX unless you are also getting a widescreen 20" or larger TFT, if you are then go for GTX if not GT wil do you fine.

I believe that the GS is sort of between a 6800 Ultra and a 7800GT, and I personally wouldnt get one with that kind of machine.

Why dont you look for big manufacturers who do AMD systems? As its gaming you would be much better off in performance terms and probably not pay as much as you would with a big brand like Dell?

From the little i've read and heard about the 7800gs, it looks like it'll be roughly the speed of a 6800ultra. It probably won't even be the quickest AGP card when it gets put in that format unless it overclocks really well.

As for the gt and gtx....the gtx is better but not by enough to justify the difference in price. If I was going to spend serious money on a card (more than £300).....i'd be tempted by either the X1800XT or X1900XT rather than a plain 7800gtx.

EDIT: Actually you can pick up a X1800Xt for under £300 at the moment....and it's quicker than any of the GTXs execpt the GTX512.
