Hi all

got a problem with a BFG 7800gs the card works right untill it get into windows then it will only run at 640x480,ive installed the latest bata drivers to see if that would cure the problem but it didn't.

I looked in device manager and it says that theres not enough resources to run the card, if i remove my x-fi card then it run absolutly fine but if i put it back in it has the problem again. i have tried putting the x-fi into a different PCI slot (tried all of the pci slots) yet it still has the problem.

If i put my old sblive card in it works fine.I even tried disabling all unused port e.g coms and some usb still doesn't help at all along with trying to assign irq manually thought the BIOS.My system is overclocked but i have tried setting every thing to stock but it didn't cure the problem

full spec
P4b [email protected]
Abit IS7-E mainboard
BFG 7800gs
Geil value 1GB ram
Soundblaster X-FI FPS edition
Enermax 600watt PSU

any idea what i could try next?
thanks

Yeah I do, I will have to try that when I get home (work nights).

thanks

Edit:Tried disabling the network but still has the problem
also tried disabling everything not needed to boot into windows, e.g all IDE
all usb but still dosn't work.

TBH i think the mainboard is dying as it has some other problems
thanks anyway

Have you connected the external molex power adapter, could it be in 'safe' mode I think I remember seeing sometihng similar with my old 6800 Ultra when only one of the two power adapters were connected.

These cards are a single molex, and I beleive it screams at you like a frog on fire if you don't have it plugged in (Much like my 6800gt). Try disabling EVREYTHING you don't use in the BIOS. This includes old parralel/serial ports, any USB ports you aren't using and as mentioned above onboard LAN etc.
