Hi Guys,

I'm confused. I d/l coolbits from somewhere and when looking at the core speed before overclocking it shows as 275Mhz??????

The spec for this product is 400Mhz GPU speed and 400MHz for the Ramdacs.

When i select detect optimal settings, it comes back with only 316Mhz???

Everest shows varying information about the gfx (which is a Pixel View, bought from OcUK). It shows 275Mhz in one area, but in another it states "real clock" 501Mhz?????

Can anyone explain this to me please??

Thanks in advance for your input.

Rest of System is:

Opty165
2GB OCZ PLatinum
A8n32-Sli Deluxe

275mhz is the 2d clock of the card. Once in 3d mode (gaming) it will speed up to 400mhz.

On the coolbits tab of the drivers there should be an option in the top right for '2D , low power 3D and high power 3D' modes.

Just as a word of guideline, on stock volts my already overclocked (as standard 450MHz) Gainward BLISS 512MB 7800GT manages to clock to 520MHz core and be 3dmark stable (no graphics problems/anomalies/sparklies).

(Memory gets to 1420MHz btw)

Oh cool. I use the Zalman VF700-CU but I've always been a bit nervous to go any higher than 465/1130. No idea why though because my temperatures are just fine and I've never seen a single artefact. I think I'll start pushng it a bit more to see what I can get. Thanks for the reply.

You only need to overclock the 3D speed, leave the 2D speed at 275Mhz.

My 7800GT auto overclock is 480/1120 suggested and is pretty accurate, if I select 490Mhz corespeed I get slight corruption in F.E.A.R. but the memory goes to 1160Mhz

HMMMM,

can anyone give me link for coolbits please?
Start > Run > Regedit

Go to \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nvidia Corporation\Global\NVTweak

Add new "DWORD value" with name "CoolBits", and change its value to 3.

Job done.

No, the value of 3 just unhides the clock frequency page of the driver control panel. No other values (as far as im aware) do anything. There are other DWORDS you can add that do other things, but they aren't particularly usefull.
