7800gt piplines unlock?

downloaded latest riva tuner and in the low level system tweaks it shows i can enable the extra 4 piplines and 1 vertex unit

will i damage my card if i enable them?
what consequences if any will it have on the card

Won't damage it, won't work either. You will just get artifacts and have to set it back

As far as I know the pipes are cut at the hardware level so you can't unlock them.

It's not possible to get a 7800GT running at 750MHz core? Will end up with a burnt chip. XFX Extremely Hot Edition perhaps...

750mhz core no way. I havnt seen one about 550 yet.

im enquiring about an1800xt or similar & wanted to know if iy was worth the upgrade? or if it would be an upgrade at all.

Especially now with more pipes.

i dont buy "pipeline cut by lazers" thing. i think its somthing else. it would cost them a butload of money to design and devolpe and then to implament a laser just to cut a couple pathways on a die. just does not make any fiscal sence. thinking abou it it would be pretty much like nano surgery on a die. not very feasible. there must be somthin else! i do know a little bit about die fabrication but not enough to say exactly how they do it.

They cut the pipelines if the yield doesnt work. they dont make 24 perfectly working pipelines and then cut 4 off. Only if 4 pipes dont work will they cut them. this process will continue until the yield rates are perfect or they want to rid their products like the X800gto's.
