7800GT SLI or 7800GTX SLI

rest of build, 4400+, 2GB Geil and a DFI SLI-D

I wait for the 7900gtx g71 to come out..
I thinking Spending about £600 on two 256mb cards now when there replacement is meant to be out in about a month would be mad...

BUT if you really insist on nvidia then well see what the 7900 is like I guess and go from there. SLIing 7800's is a waste of cash though and the X1900XT is probably the best value for money graphics card EVER that it's unlikely, unless 1900 prices rise or Nvidia break with tradition, that the 7900 will match the 1900 for value ( might beat it on performance but it's likely to be £400-450 minimum I'd expect ).

if you keep waiting and waiting you will never buy ote i took the dip and brought 2 7800gtx and im so pleased they play every thing and not had a problem and will keep me goin for ages i paid £750 for bothand they the xfx 7800 gtx 256mb ee 490/1300

it depends on if you can justify the costs. that 750 quid is not gonna last you very long considering the way gfx cards get dated these days.

Even with my computer it cpu limited yeh. so would the g71. So what the point in haveing more power. But no one kno it wil be faster no one kno what speed it going to be and the price. That why i say take the dive now. Say it slower or more expensive then you wonder weather to get it or not. I just took the plage and thought get it while i got the guts to spend £700.

Any one of the two going run it as fast and most people end upgradeing by a year time or its just old tech and slow. Depends if he going to run less than 1600x1200 then id stick with one and if you ever need another buy one.

well im running a Iiyama Prolite (10ms) 17" (1280*1024 native), so i take it SLI would be a waste for me anyway, would the 1900XT even make much of a difference to me or should i save the cash and get a single 7800GT/X with space to get another and SLI if i upgrade my monitor

I wait for the 7900gtx g71...

I have the xt1900xt-x and two 7800gtx in sli..Nvidia drivers are much better and nicer to use..

The xt1900xt-x is a very fast card..But they it needs some serious work done to the drivers for it..
I very much dislike the ATI CCC on there drivers..

im not willing to pay over £500 for a gfx card if it wont make much of a difference while running 1280x1024 resolution. if thats the case il just buy a 7800GT or GTX or 1900XT

With the current price of the X1800XT cards you may want to get that, faster than the 7800GTX. Great card for the price. Other than that, considering price versus performance, go for the X1900XT.

buy the 7800 gt then upgrade the monitor then buy another gt if needed

SLI is a complete waste of money unless you game @ 1600x1200, 1920x1200 or higher.

For 1280x1024 either GTX256/GTX512/X1800/X1900 will do you ok for a while and be a big upgrade from a 6800GT.

Any of those cards would be able to have full details + AA enabled with little if any slowdown.

For your resolution a single card would be better. The X1900XT seems to offer brilliant value for money, as does the slightly older X1800XT (the latter being almost £100 cheaper at the moment).
