7800GT SLi?

If i cannot get an exact copy of my current BFG 7800GT card, can i SLI in any other way?

Ie, get a BFG GeForce 7900 GS OC 256MB to pair with it?

The GPU's must match, but you can use another manufacturer as long as your using nvidia driver 80 and above (I think)

I've got an XFX 7800GT (the pre overclocked one) and paired that with a OCUK 7800GT at stock speed. You can also mix memory sizes but it's not recommended....

good luck finding another 7800GT card, they're like hens teeth these days

So i basically need a 7800GT with 256mb, but it doesn't really have to be a BFG.

although I'm just wondering whether your PSU will be up to the job, I've got virtually identical spec as you but I did upgrade to a 550W psu in case I wanted to go SLI

Yeah, something that worries me also.

Sightly underpowered.

Maybe i should think about getting that up to power first than getting extra gfx cards.

I need a soundcard, new keyboard & fans (since everything is all stock fans) but its hard to fork out the money for them.

£30-40 on a keyboard

£60-100 on a PSU

£60 on a soundcard

£10 case fan, £20 CPU fan & £25 GFX card cooler

It all adds up.

All the 7800GT's i have seen lately have been the best part of £200 which is ridiclous seeing that you can get a 7900gt for around £170.

I think your best bet would be a well known auction site. Quite a few BFG's have been turning up there too.

There's nowt about there. (when i've chekced anyway)

People asking £170's for the same spec card as mine.

Would need a new PSU, which just isnt viable in my current financial situation.

Well, not right now anyway.

I've been scouting about and can get:

Zalman VF900-CU
Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 PRO
AKASA chipset cooler AK-210
Saitek Eclipse Keyboard USB
Creative SB X-Fi Xtreme Music OEM

For £130 delivered.

So might think more on that side of things.

I need the fans as temps are rising, and if i get them consider overclocking the CPU & GFX, so some performance boost.

I need a keyboard as this ones knackered and a soundcard would be a nice addition, although a little luxury.

Well really all the products are luxury, its just convincing myself which ones i need

Do the latest drivers not let you use different gpu's and run at the slower ones rate ?
