TBH that cpu will bottle neck a 7800

For that money i'd get an X1800 XT.

Are you still on AGP though? Looking at your specs there's no way you're on PCI-E, and there's no 7800GT out for AGP, it's only out for PCI-E. The AGP counterpart is the 7800 GS, which is fairly similar performance to the X850 XT PE. Even still, getting that card would not be worth it. It'd have a huge bottleneck on it becuase of your current CPU. You're looking at a full upgrade really.

Yeah im upgrading to pci-e, 3700 should be arriving tomorrow. Im going to use my current gpu in it until I upgrade.

Are you going to be overclocking at all? Even if not, i can 110% reccomend the X1800 XT 256MB from Connect3D. Got one of these myself a month or so ago, and the thing is amazing

Overclocks like mad, got me 11k in 05 which beats quite a few X1900 XT's and most X1800 XT 512MB's

9800pro to X850XT = approx double performance

X850XT to X1800XT = approx double performance

so a HUGE leap in performance going from 9800pro to X1800XT!

The 7800GS is almost identical to the 6800Ultra. Check out benchmarks for a PCIe 6800ultra and a 7800GT.

If I recall correctly a 7800GT is around 30% faster?
