7800GTX 512 upgrading to ????

OK I've had my 7800GTX 512 since they first came out. Its currently sitting in my E6700 C2D rig. Mainly playing games at 1680x1050.

Whats going to be the best card for DX9 and DX10?

I guess the choices are:

8800GTX
8800GTS640
2900XT

I have been smacking my head against a brickwall since the 2900 came out, ATi really missed the boat.

So come on guys give me some suggestions, LOTRO could look soooo much nicer and run quicker

What's your budget? If you can get the GTX - it's the best card out there other than the overpriced Ultra.

I'd say wait personally... the 512Mb version of the 7800GTX is pretty speedy... imo you'd be better off skipping this generation and jumping on the next one around October or so when the G9x based GPUs arrive...

s'what im doing, I have 2x 7800gtx's, im waiting for the next batch of dx10 cards so that when there are loads around I don't have the very bottom of the pack dx10 card...the 8800 or 2900

Yeah I think you guys might be right, we are almost in June so might be worth holding out a bit longer!
