hi guys... im starting to develop a problem in my system....

people who have been in the memory forum would know that crucial have a terrible fail rate (9 out of 10 chips for me so far have failed) and again, im starting to have a problem with my ram. Its now underclocked and overvolted to get stable.

anyway i been getting these bios beeps, one long, 2 short.... which i thought was memory failure. However it turns out it means:

1 long, 2 short: Failure in video system An error was encountered in the video BIOS ROM, or a horizontal retrace failure has been encountered

does this mean my Asus 7800gtx is going wrong? its 100% fine in all games i play and everything else i do, its just the post it has problems with.

i cant reboot or turn the system on without having to reset bios etc... which is starting to get a tad bit annoying!!! Once the system is on, its 100% fine and stable??? Strange?

So is this a gfx card bios/rom problem? or is it just my motherboard going wrong?

hope so.

im also wondering which DVI port is the 1st one on these cards? the one closer to the motherboard?

Yeah i think it is, that's the one i use anyway.

You're best off trying to borrow some ram to try and rule the crucial out.

why do you not change to a different brand of memory it you get so many problems with crucial ram
cos they always replace the ram, they dont seem to want to refund.

im buying cosair this time, however i cant afford it, so i need to wait for the refund to go through (im going to demand it this time since crucial dont even sell 1gig modules anymore).

i know its the ram that causes most reboots/post failures, however the bios codes i was getting i thought was 1 long, 3 short, which is memory failure.... but when i found out it was 1 long 2 short (gfx card) i got worried! :(
