I'm just really getting back into the whole PC thing after a number of years. Amigas were my thing along time ago:) I'm putting a system together and have got a good deal on a eVGA 7800GTX. I was wondering what you guys thoughts are on them. I basically know they're a pretty decent card but I'm gonna be gaimg on a 19 tft at 1280 x 1024 and was wondering do they cope with most of the new games at high settings? Cheers.
 
Out of interest, how much (don't say where!)?

The X1800XT 512MB is in this week only for £252 which will stomp all over the GTX and has 512MB RAM which will be useful for higher resolutions and more demanding games in the future - unless (going by your sig) you have already bought it, in which case, it will cope with all the latest games quite amicably.
 
Yeah bought it already mate, £200 NIB, thought it was a pretty good deal. To be honest with you if I get the gaming bug then I'll upgrade soon enough anyway.
 
That's a good deal anyway, the 256MB X1800XT is £20 more and for not much gain. Good price :) - should perform just slower than a 7900GT so will easily cope. I wouldn't upgrade that until G80 or R600 chips which will be native DX10. Enjoy the rest of the year with nice smooth graphics :).

Yeah, HL2 isn't really too demanding so you can use all the highest settings tbh - that's what I do and it runs perfectly.
