7800x3d recommendation

Hello!

I would like to ask you for help in choosing a motherboard.
There will be two pieces of m2 ssd in the machine. One is for windows + games, the other is for downloads (maybe a sata would also be good for this, but that's how I plan)
Processor will be a 7800x3d.
Video card is a 7900 XTX.

The audio codec is not very interesting, because I will use it with an oled TV and the sound goes through HDMI. If I need it, I'll buy a sound card.
I don't think it's necessary for a second PCI-e slot (I've never used it before, but I can imagine putting a sound card in if the crappy factory and USB solution is not good)

RGB is not absolutely necessary.

I definitely want either a B650E or X670E board. I would prefer the X670E, but the b650E is also good.

Regarding Asus boards, I read that there are many problems. Is it really so?
What quality do Asrock tiles represent? I see quite a few people using Asrock boards.
Are Gigabyte boards really overpriced?
Is everything clear with MSI cards?

Please help me choose. So far, these are on my list, from which I would like to choose:

- ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI

If you recommend it, please write the reason there. I'm really lost so any info would be helpful.
 
Value and performance

The MSI tomahawks have been the go to boards for previous generations that's where I would be buying.

The only reason to choose anything over others is amount of ports or features you need.

I read online that it is not worth spending more than the price range of the MSI X670e Tomahawk. Do you think so too?

If you're willing to drop PCI-E 5.0 graphics, the TUF B650-Plus is only £150 and has 1 PCI-E 5.0 M.2 slot (the other 2 are PCI-E 4.0).

I would like minimum B650e motherboard.
Spend more only if you need a feature that a cheaper board doesn't have .

Tomahawk gets my vote.
 
I went with an ASUS B650E-E, looked like the best value all-rounder and its ~£80 cheaper now. The Intel NIC is bad though, I am using a USB NIC now.
 
I'm using the 7800X3D with Asus B650E Gaming E board, no issues at all, have 2TB 980 Pro NVMe drive, 2TB 870 evo SATA, 2TB Samsung USB C T7 shield and old 2TB Seagate 7200rpm as USB backup, USB Floppy,USB DVDRW,
BTW pretty impressed with onboard sound for gaming, nice and clear with no crackle or pops. LAN NIC ethernet has been solid on my board as well.

SoC CPU voltage issue has been fixed (BIOS update for all brands) since April, so voltage maxes out on mine at 1.24v but normally below 1v.

ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2​

The bare minimum acceptable, loses the "E" stuff

Gigabyte B650M AORUS ELITE AX (rev. 1.3)​

Not sure if there's a non-Elite version but I think this is one of the motherboards that Hardware Unboxed recommended from a big group test.

Asrock B650E PG-ITX WIFI​

I have an NR200P MAX case I can use which requires an ITX motherboard. Also has an eDF port which I've used before for a case mounted LCD screen.

I built my son's PC at the weekend using a ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-F and a 7800x3d, it's great board and really easy to work on and plenty of fan headers. I bought it on the strength of my ASUS ROG STRIX B670E board, I have to say it dose everything my son will need, his graphics card is a 7900xt.

I've had my motherboard a year and had no problems at all, my ASUS ROG STRIX B670E is my second 670 board. My first board was a Gigabyte X670 Aorus Elite AX, after about 3 months it developed boot problems and was RMA'd. Got my money back and bought the ROG X670E.

Rog B650E-F + 7800x3D here too no issues. Only thing I can complaint is that, compared to my previous MSI Z690 Tomahawk, the initial fan boost is annoying, even worse because on AM5 the boot takes slightly longer (bypassing the RAM training). Not a deal breaker, but the MSI would boot with the fans at the desired PWM%. Thermalpads supplied okay-ish, but managed to shave over 10C replacing them with Gelid ones. MSI seems to use better thermalpads. Done the same to my TUF 4080. Quality is okay, just some mediocre thermalpad choice.

Mine is pretty good on my Asus B650E gaming E board, temps for my 2TB Samsung 980 Pro in gaming is around 53c max using default Asus NVMe pad.

I think case cooling also helps and varies between users, mine has like 3x140mm front fans and 1x120mm rear exhaust.
 
They can keep within spec, don’t get me wrong.
For cases with bottom intake (H9, O11D Evo, O11D Air Mini, Lancool III, Lancool 216 and NV7), the PCH was low 50s, and NVME, under load, mid 40s. The one very next to the GPU would be low 50s. But managed over 10C improvement replacing the thermalpads. Not that it was necessary, but a short time using a case without bottom intake (Fractal North) and all the previously mentioned temperature would be 10ish Celsius higher.
Decided to, FINALLY, settle with the NV7 and the D30s. The empty top, despite using the AFII 360 and D30s, doesn’t bother me as much. Room temperature of 21.5, PCH at 42C, after 3 hours of gaming. NVME maxed out at 47C. The Samsung 980Pro does run a bit hot.
Will keep the North and all the Thermalright fans and cooler for a secondary system.

What made you switch out of interest, MSI board seemed better?

When went for AM5, got the B650E-F at a “good price”. MSI was either much more expensive or their barebone models. Asus is fine. Just some corners they cut. About the GPU, the TUF 4080 also is of decent quality. Just the poor decision to use entry-level quality thermalpads. But the GPU as a whole feels very solid and I like the minimalist RGB of it.
