Hi, my daughters 7800x3d is running better than my sons 9800x3d. How can this be? My daughters system is as follows Asus X870A gaming wifi with 32gb 6400 ddr5 expo enabled in bios. 8tb ssd m.2 over 3 cards and a RTX 4070 TI Super oc. My sons is an Asus Crosshair X870e Hero. X9800x3d, 32 gb ddr5 6400 expo enabled with 4tb ssd m.2 and a rtx 4070 ti super oc. Has anyone got advice? Both 3dmark and heaven 4.0 scores way lower. Thanks

I'd suggest you run a CPU heavy benchmark like Cinebench and check the scores.

While running something like 3D Mark, download a monitoring software like hwinfo and run the sensors tab alongside. Check the power draw and clocks of both PCs.

One thing to check would be that the 7800X3D is operating in 1:1 mode (with the RAM) and the other system is not, that could account for some performance loss, but I'm not sure what balance there is between 3D Mark and Heaven on CPU versus GPU.

Thank you for your advice. I have run Cinebench 2024 and cinebench R23 with still the same outcome. I know my sons system is running at around 34.1 I have also checked that the 3d cache is also present and running.

What tests did you run?

I can check on my system and see what I currently get.

Mine is a 9800X3D, 32GB C30 6000mhz ram, Gigabyte X870 Eagle and a 4070Ti

It's part of the chipset drivers. And a check in task manager states if its running specifically for the 9800x3d. I've just deleted the chipset drivers and it's now running. My head is going to burst!! Lol...

Are you getting confused with the optimisations in the driver package? I don't think that's the same thing as turning off the cache
