7800xt or 7900xt

Is it a waste of money buying the 7900xt over the 7800xt. It’s going with the 9800x3d, gaming only likes of wow and Battlefield. It’s for Christmas so buying today.

Depends on what screen you are trying to drive. Both would be overkill for a low refresh rate 1080p screen for example.

Going to use a 27inch 1440 monitor

This will have a 9800x3d which will probably be around £500. So hopefully again only upgrade will be the graphics card.

Plan was to buy the 7800x3d but since I’ve been checking the prices it’s only increased, so that’s why I was going with the 9800x3d. Plus I believe wow loves x3d.

you know that the only major difference between the 7600 and the 7600XT is the VRAM right, the 7600XT isn't worth the money
either drop down the a 7600 or step up to a 7700XT/7800XT

With the 7600xt 12gb won’t that be better for non mmo games that are coming out, I can only ask my son what games he is likely to play but kids change their minds like the weather. Can’t really afford to spend anymore than what I have as the plan was 2k max and I’ve gone over that. 7600xt should last 2 years tho?

The reason for me buying from Overclockers is it’s not far for me to return anything if any components are faulty as don’t want to be waiting for couriers. So when I come to do an upgrade I was hoping I would only have to replace the gpu to 7900xtx for example. So what can I change that won’t reduce the performance that much?
