780Ti: EVGA Superclock or non Superclock

I've decided I'm definitely going to get a 780Ti, which I'll order from OCUK tomorrrow.

Just one problem... I can't decide on the exact card

Currently, I'm stuck between the Superclocked and the non superclocked card from EVGA. I do plan to overclock, so my logic is telling me chances of getting a better overclock are with the superclocked version, how far from the truth am I?

I'm also open to other cards from different vendors, so feel free to make your own suggestion.

I personally never buy pre overclocked versions and have never seen my oc's pale in comparison with others oced models.

Out of curiosity, is there any particular reason you never buy them?

Probably because it's not hard to reach the OC's most of the pre overclocked cards reach anyway

It all depends what you mainly want it for and some people must want to be able to pop the quickest gpu they can get in the model they want and leave as is

The thing that narc's me about pre overclocked cards is that I have never had a GPU that didnt overclock at least 75mhz,which is the most pre oc'd cards usually are. They would be worth it if it was a certain 150-200mhz but most cards oc that much anyways and its usually quite a premium just for a little speed boost. Anywhere up to £70 for the sake of saving you a 3rd party tool is a total rip off IMO

Classified clocks great, not sure if I could get a ref card to these speeds.

I am happy with my classi which is stable at 1172/1662 on standard bios and standard volts. These boost to just shy off 1300 core if bump the volts can get 1320 core but not really happy to do this until I put the card under water

If a card manufacturer offers both oc and non-oc then isn't there a good chance that the non-oc models have be binned as not clocking so well?

If you are buying non-oc then isn't it better to go for a brand which only offers a reference clock model?

I'm not sure mate but myself and my friend have 2x MSI gaming edition 780s and all four reach 1250mhz easy. AFAIK the 780 is capable of 1100mhz mostly unless you are unlucky. It's like AMD selling the 7970ghz edition for a premium when I didnt have a 7970 that was not capable of 1050mhz at least and I had 5 in total

Even BADLY binned cards will provide the OC the Pre-OCed cards will. It's such a minuscule overclock I doubt they bin for it at all.

Thats what I meant Sin. When they sell you an "overclocked" card its never more than 75mhz usually and Ive never had a card that hasnt done that anyways. You pay for nothing really

Classified GPU 's are really in a different class for overclocking as they have a much bigger heatsink and more power phases..(or whatever it is you call them extra power things )
