Looking at putting a new card in my newest pc. I have a 6950 in my 2500k system, but what to put in my new ivy?

Specs are

3570k
Z77 extreme4
8Gb xms3
OCZ 550w zt
OCZ 120gb ssd

It runs really well so looking to treat it to a new gfx card, the 7850 seems good bang for buck. Is there any alternatives I should look at? What card would you recommend for that price.

Will this replace your current system? Or is this a standalone? If the latter, 7850, if former another 6950 for crossfire.

I doubt a heavy overclock on the 7850 could get anywhere near Xfire6950's.

There's not better alternative for that price range...at least not until GTX660Ti is available (don't know when), which may or may not be better than the 7850.

Putting that side, 7850 is not much if an upgrade from a 6950...in my opinion, the minimum you should consider upgrading to is a GTX580 or GTX670/7950...personally the latter two would be better choice.

Yeah the 7870 is a bit out of place really in the market, far better to find a few more quid for a 7950, which overclock like demons. Hopefully the 660 cards will be released soon which will shake up the prices of the mid range cards.

Cant believe nvidia have given AMD a free run at the mid range market this gen so far

In a similar situation myself actually. I've been looking at the 7850/70 since there isnt really anything on Nividia's side within that price range just yet. 7850 sounds like the best shout for what I want to pay.

I was running a GTX 260 before it died on me, so anything will be a nice upgrade for me.
