7850 Poor Performance

Hi there,

I hope someone can help me with this... I upgraded from a 5850 to a 7850 a few months ago (I know it wasn't a huge upgrade, but I wanted to do it anyway), and I'm noticing far worse performance in some older games.

Crysis and Oblivion in particular are far slower. In Crysis, I used to get between 50-60fps on my 5850, but on my 7850 this is around 30fps. Oblivion is even worse: constant 60fps on 5850, but between 20-30fps on 7850. (Vanilla Oblivion!!)

I have OC'd the card to 1150core, 1500memory - All very stable.

Please help!

i5-750@4Ghz
8GB RAM
Windows 7 - 64bit

As above. There should be an increase that would be quite noticeable. I think there is a program called Driver sweep or something, gets rid of all the old stuff.

yeah remove all traces of ati drivers then reinstall .

also i would make sure your oc is 110 percent stable

With the latest beta drivers on my 7850 I've had to have another go at re-establishing OC's as they seemed to fail with new drivers.

if its as bad as the ops says then somethings holding the card back, could be memory? what motherboard are you using and memory speeds? no way on earth it should be that slow even at stock gpu clocks

Well i put it down to my motherboard but have read slot of these 7850s not working good. Im ordering a 660 soon if this doesn't work then yes its my motherboard.
