Hello all, just as the title says really. Can I just switch cards and play or do I have to uninstall ccc/drivers and gpu tweak and then reinstall them once the new card is fitted.
Thanks.

why would you have to reinstall CCC?

It uninstalls the drivers for the current card, then reinstalling installs drivers for the new card. Don't ask me how/why/whatever, its what it says on the and website to do.

Bagpus did you take advantage of today's offer on the 7970s? I'm tempted but think I'll have to hold off for the 290x, have spent too much on upgrades in the past couple of week, was only meant to be mobo and CPU but ended up being ssd, case and psu as well.

You absolutely dont need to reinstall CCC, when swapping one amd card for another.

I doubt you need to with GPU Tweak either. Just start it up after swaping the cards, check the details are correct. if it's showing the wrong values, then uninstall and reinstall.

Great this is what I was initially thinking but wanted to check. I wasn't going to buy a card but saw the price of the matrix and hit buy before I even thought about it. Prices of cards have been great recently. Happy days all round.

If you're making a big change (like 5850 -> 7950, speaking from experience) you will likely encounter problems if you don't do a full uninstall first. 7850 -> 7950 however should be fine but a lot of people (myself included) always do a full uninstall every new driver because problems still occur, especially with betas.

As orangey has said even tho you don't need to you may as well, it only takes a few mins to do and means you aren't in risk of any issues popping up in the future.
