7850 vs 660

Something to note is the 7800s get a boost but dont scale quite as well with the 12.11s as the 7900s.

They do actualy :)

I would take that chart with a pinch of salt or compare it with other 7870 users tbh.

Tbh what humbug is posting is pretty much backed up from what review sites were saying and the gains that 7900 series users were reporting. I think one review site mentioned that the 7800 or at least the 7870 was the biggest winner in term's of gains.

You seem to have contradicted yourself here, if the 660 is faster at stock and he is not going to overclock, how would chooseing the 660 give worse performance?

I missed that in the origional post. In that case If he really doesnt want to overclock then 660 is the better card. Getting a 7850 is pointless to leave at stock imo.

Actually where did the OP say he wasnt overclocking?

I got a MSI 660 after reading reviews that the equivalent 7850 MSI wasn't as quiet. Essentially I am after a front room gaming machine with it and I'd prefer near silence.

Great little unit but I'm not an overclocker.

It is a smidge more expensive than the 7850, but there are some miniscule gains in stock speed that tipped me over paying a bit more.

You won't regret it. A week or two ago a 7850 2gb would have been the obvious choice but with prices now so close it's 6 and half a dozen really.
