7870 CPU Bottleneck

Hi guys,My friend is thinking about upgrading his old GPU to a 7870.
He has a i5 760 at stock clock and i don't know to much about CPU bottlenecking.
So was wondering if you guys could help.
If he purchased a 7870 for gaming would it bottleneck?

Is his i5 overclocked? I shouldn't imagine it would be bottlenecked by a 7870, there hasnt been a huge performance increase since the first i5 gens.

No it's stock clocked he doesn't really know how to overclock and i can't guide him on how to do it because he lives in London

Point him in the direction of the overclocking forum on here. It won't take him long to test out the very basics, and will be worth his time and effort.

I think it might bottleneck, but not too horribly. I had a 7870 and an i7 860 @ 3.8GHz and did not get a bottleneck, but a stock i5 760 is a fair bit slower...
