Hello

I'm getting tempted by some of the Sapphire 7870 cards with Dual-X cooling. I'm on a 5850 with Twin Turbo Pro (92mm dual fans) and it's just about silent when not playing games. Anyone had experience of the Twin Turbo Pro and compared it to the 7870 cards?

TIA:)

I had an MSI twin frozr 7870 and I found it far to noisy when gaming, those fans pretty much ran at 100% and made a racket. The cooler on the frozr looks pretty much identical to the Sapphire one but I couldn't say if they would be equal in terms of noise.

I bit the bullet and upgraded to a gigabyte wf 7950, its supposed to be very quiet, I'll see when it arrives.

I just manually set my fan curve and have it not go over 50%, keeps it cool and doesn't get any louder than my ambient case/cpu fan noise when under load.

Thanks for the handy info. Now looking at the 7850 Vapor-x as it has 92mm fans and a nice games voucher. Sounds like it should be quiet as my current 5850+ Twin Turbo pro at idle?

i had the dualx 7870 for a week. the fans spin up a bit during games but not by much. you could improve it with a custom fan profile and good airflow. idle it is completely silent

The dual X on my 7950 was nice and quiet up to 60%. Over that, it could get a little noisy.
Still, it was quieter than the reference 5870 before it...
