I got one of these about a month ago, and like every new card I have for a few weeks played around with OC settings, benched, watched FPS and monitored temps!

I came from a radeon 4850, 5850 and now this 7870 Tahiti.

Never before have I seen over 69c on a card, even after a few hours of gaming. Now this card is gets to 82c on some games. I don't know if this is ok, safe for the card or I should be looking to return the card for over heat!?

Its a VTX 7870 Black edition, and a few messages to VTX got no replies!

I am still running a 6870 and that nudges upto 90c when gaming for long periods.

Quite sure 82c isn't anything to worry about, especially If you have good airflow in your case.

Ok thanks, just 80+ seemed quite high to me and I didn't want to be ignorant to the fact I could be running a dodgy card. It doesn't bother me personally, case is quite away away from where I game. But its good to know they are safe at these temps!

82c max is an ok temp given the warm weather and the fact that card is not known for good cooling. Wouldn't worry modern cards can take plenty more.:)

What are the clocks you are running at and what voltage are you using? My 7950 is stable at 1175 1600 but it runs a little too hot this time of year, so I use less voltage and run a cooler 1050 1600 instead.
82c is fine this time of year but as you probably aware just make sure the card isn't throttling if the tdp limit is still stock.
