Shortly going to be buying a new system. But was wondering about the above gfx card question.

Looking at benchmarks on toms hardware (using the 7800gt sli as reference) it looks like the x1900xt is faster.

Has anyone got any real world experience of this question?

The X1900XT can be had for @£200 and the 7900 GS SLI for @£250.
Would it be worth the extra £50...?

i would personally go for the x1900. with this you have the option of expansion to crossfire if you were to get a bigger monitor etc, whereas the 7900GS sLI you would have to sell both cards in order to get a performance increace

Just go for the X1900XT :) It's a great card...image quality is better in pretty much all respects as well.

What resolution do you run at?

I'd say even if it's very high and SLI has a chance to shine, the 1900xt will STILL be faster.

Pocket yourself £50 and get the xt.

outputs more heat than the 2 cards combined.

At least is shoves it out the back of the case instead of just dumping it on your cpu and mb chipset.

Sounds like a pretty conclusive win for the x1900xt.

Cheers guys. i could get an E6400 instead of an E6300 with the extra £50!

What's your entire setup? :D

Just checked the prices and it's nearer £75! You could nearly get the 6600 for that!
