7900 gs underperforming???

hi all

me 1st post in a while

heres me prob
i bought this card from overclockers about 3 months ago

i have an 4400 dual core cpu also from overclockers
asrock dualsata2 mobo allso from overclockers
but i look at reviews like this and get no way near the performance this comp gets

my major differnce from that review setup is my motherboard i have the dualsata 2 board and my ram i have 1.5 gig of ram and they have 2 gigs of ram
can some1 please shed some light on this for me please as i havent a clue why i get no way near the scores they have in that review on there rig compared to my rig???
what could it be a bottleneck ?????

1: The Palit 7900 that DH reviewed is a factory overclocked (sonic) version.

2: In all probability your 1.5GB of ram is not running in dual channel mode, thus affecting your scores (memory has to be identicle and installed in pairs to run in dual channel mode).

3: You didn't say what scores you were getting, they might be about right when taking the above into acount ?

Sorry if I've came across as a bit blunt, its late and I'm about to hit the sleeping sack.

AMD likes memory sticks in either 512MBx2 (1GB) or 1024MBx2 (2GB) & tight timings (e.g. 2.5-3-3-8) also 1T timing mode

Well you're not running in dual channel then. AMD chips gain a lot fron dual-channel. Only way to get this would be to replace all of your memory with a 1gig or 2gig kit

You could buy this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-046-GL&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=481 and sell your current ram but with the low prices of DDR2 i would be inclined to take a different upgrade path IE. Core2

got 2 Palit OUCK cards 4 months ago I have also got a dual 4200 @2.7gig
I have the cards in SLI mode now but I had to buy one at a time " lack of funds"
when I was using 1 card it would clock 650core & mem wold run@1700 but would freeze after 30 40 minutes so I leave it @1500 but when game play games I put it up to 1650mhz, when I got the other 1 got SLI up and the cards still clock the same with out any problems and the graphic's are excellent there was a massive improment when the second card went in. Only problem is I have lost
of PCI slots in fact I can only use 1 as the cards take up all the space but it worth it the DFI got all I need plenty of USB ports got lucky on the motherboard at OCUK I paid £65 then a week latter they the price went up to just over 100 odd dont know why " SLI bridge mod"
Have a look at the motherboard website to see what ram is best I can onky use 2 gig in dual channel but in single channel I can stick a gig in each slot
also there was ram best for my MB.
