We all know RTX 4090 sales was banned in China and 22 other countries.

Now it is very interesting that US government published new sales advisory added AMD GPUs to the sales ban list!

All AMD Instinct family GPUs included MI210, MI250, MI250X, MI300 and MI300X.

AMD Radeon GPUs included RX 7900 XT, RX 7900 XTX and PRO W7900.

Poor chinese people cant buy RX 7900 XT or XTX after RTX 4090 banned, they will have no choice but to buy the slower 7800 XT.

Ouch I think AMD gaming and data center GPU revenue will be hit hardest.

This will affect both amd and Nvidia

It's not really possible to legally get around this, Nvidia has tried and as soon as they make a new GPU to evade the previous ban, the US government bans the new GPU faster than they can make it

Easy come, easy go - AMD and Nvidia revenues both benefit from the AI boom and will both tumble because of it

The ban is USA's way to stop China getting a hold of gpu's with X amount of AI performance.

Knowing Nv, the 4090 performance uplift over the 4080 is because they wanted to keep selling gpus to China.

About 20% to 25% of Nvidia revenues are from China, so not sure why the OP thinks this only affects AMD. JHH himself is against the restrictions.

ATM, it is most likely a lot of the huge AI hardware sales increase is due to a mad rush by Chinese companies to acquire hardware before the restrictions come into place. But the restrictions also affect lots of other countries too because the US government is trying to block countries which might re-export hardware to China too. I am not sure how this can be effectively policed worldwide though?!
