7900GS reaching 80 C

Seems well hot to me as my GS+ clocked & loaded never goes past 60c and that's with the heating on and after a 3 hour bash of BF2.
Have you noticed any throttling ?
What's your case cooling like as i have to say mine is excellent.
Try leaving the side cover off and loading it up to see what temps you get, if they drop considerably then improve your case cooling, if they don't then change the GFX cooler or clock it back a bit. 600/1600 is pushing it a bit, you could down clock it to say 550/1500 & not really notice any difference in performance in game, also if it is throttling from heat then it will run faster at lower clocks.
 
Whip the fan off clean the compound off and give it some AS5 or similar.Had the same problem on my old 7800GTX.Doing this dropped temps by quite a lot.
 
i have tried that but CSS and BF2 crash as i said it came like that which is factory overclocked i have a zlaman VF-700 arriving soon and that is with the side pannels off i have 2x80mm zalman fans at 3000rpm which bump 35cfm
